My paper calendar says the dance begins at 7:00pm, but the invitation says 6:30. Which is it?

The graduates process in promptly at 7pm, which is the “official” start of the dance. However, in order to make sure everyone has ample time to check in and find their seats, the ballroom will be open beginning at 6:30 so that we may begin the event on time.

Will I be sitting with my child?

If you are a parent of an Emergence Student, no. Your child will sit with their “date” (which may be a peer or a teacher), and with other classmates and teachers from their division. Parents sit at tables with other parents, but may of course dance and socialize with their child throughout the event.

What type of food should I expect?

A “light” meal, consisting of student-friendly finger foods. It generally includes mini slider-burgers (both meat and vegetarian), french fries, fresh crudite, and dessert options. Food options are not gluten-free. Please plan accordingly if you have a dietary restriction. BHS kitchen will prepare and serve food for your child if needed.

What should I wear? What should my child wear?

The event is formal. Emergence Program male students will be wearing rented tuxedos. The female students will be wearing more “formal” dresses or pantsuits.

How will my child get to the dance? Is there transportation?

If your child is a Residential student, yes. They will arrive on vans with staff and their peers. Graduating students will arrive via limousine.

If your child is a Day student, transportation to Lombardo’s is the responsibility of the parents / guardians.

Can I register on the day of the event?

Unfortunately, no. RSVPs are required no later than March 15th so that we have ample time to plan seating, prepare our students, and order the correct amount of food from Lombardo’s. For these reasons, we unfortunately cannot accommodate late registrations, and registrations at the door.

Pick up information after the event:

Students can go home after the event. Please remember the EP brunch is the next morning. It is highly recommended that you have your (male) students change clothes and leave the rented tuxedos with staff. Please notify your teacher and Education Office about your pick up plans at least 3 days in advanced.
